Course Description: This course is based on a comprehensive survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which evaluates the incidence, prevalence and consequences of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) against women in the United States. The study is important because it is comprehensive and utilizes sound methodology which provides the reader with the most accurate numbers to date. It also includes important information regarding the costs of medical care, social services and lost productivity, so that the reader has an understanding of the social and economic consequences of IPV for the United States.
This course will provide the practioner with indepth information regarding the consequences of domestic violence in the United States. This course is appropriate for psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, certified addictions counselors, midwives and others working with individuals who may be at risk of domestic violence. This course is targeted for beginning and intermediate practitioners.
